Hot fun for the summer solstice

Stuart Levy, a research programer at the National Center for Super Computing Applications at the University of Illinois, explains a 3-D computer simulation of two galaxies colliding. It was part of a presentation Friday at the Krannert Center for the Performing Arts in Urbana to celebrate the longest day of the year.

URBANA – The crowd inside the Krannert Center on Friday counted loudly the last 10 seconds to 6:59 p.m.

"Three ... two ... one ... happy summer," yelled Jim Kaler as he dropped a plastic time ball from his hand to the floor.
