Woman's bond set at $750,000

URBANA – Bond was set at $750,000 Sunday for a 30-year-old Urbana woman who allegedly stabbed to death a man she shared an apartment with.
Vera M. Simmons is facing a first-degree murder charge and was being held Sunday night in the downtown Champaign County Jail. She is scheduled to be arraigned in Champaign County Circuit Court at 1:30 p.m. today.
