Dr. Howard Elementary School is one of three in Champaign that has seen three principals in as many years. The turnover began after the 2006 school year when then-Principal Frances Burley, left, resigned to move to Texas.

When Martin Beberman starts his school year this fall, the teacher at Dr. Howard Elementary School will not only be getting to know new students in his third-grade gifted classroom. He and his colleagues will also be getting to know a new principal. Again.

Dr. Howard's principal of four years, Frances Burley, left in 2007 to join her husband in Texas, where he'd taken a job. An interim principal was appointed for last year, and a new principal for the coming school year was chosen earlier this month.
