Ticking package turns out to be false alarm

MONTICELLO – A ticking package inside the Monticello post office Tuesday morning set into motion a number of emergency protocols for postal workers, police and firefighters, who performed without missing a beat.

The incident prompted Monticello Postmaster Mitch Rose to advise people to remove batteries before sending any battery-operated device through the mail.
