DANVILLE – Dwight Lucas grew up in public housing in Danville, so he knows as well as anyone that many of the stereotypes associated with public housing residents are not true.
People in public housing are not evil and are productive members of the community, said Lucas, executive director of the East Central Illinois Community Action Agency, a local nonprofit organization that provides a variety of social services and educational programs in the community.
