Carpooling becomes more important as gas prices skyrocket

Gail Neukomm and Cara Lucht get out of Neukomm's car at the parking lot for Carle Clinic and Carle Foundation Hospital employees. Neukomm, a health-care technician in the rehabilitation department, and Lucht, a registered nurse in the oncology department, carpool to work in Urbana from Cissna Park.

Nancy Keith worked at the Carle Clinic in Bloomington for nearly nine years before taking her current job as nursing research coordinator at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana.

One requirement for her to accept the new job: She'd have to find someone to share rides between Bloomington, where she lives, and Urbana.
