URBANA – Danielle Chynoweth, the senior member of the Urbana City Council, resigned Monday, citing a burgeoning professional career.

Chynoweth, a Ward 2 Democrat, has served seven years on the city council as perhaps its most liberal member. Her term runs until May 2009. Mayor Laurel Prussing will name a replacement, subject to council ratification, in coming weeks.
