Ex-Illini football player accused in Florida rape

POMPANO BEACH, Fla. – A former University of Illinois football player was due to appear in a Florida court today on charges accusing him of raping a woman in Pompano Beach. He is also being investigated by Urbana police for local crimes that occurred several years ago.
Urbana police Lt. Bryant Seraphin said Urbana police began working with the Broward County sheriff's office in Florida in August on sex crimes in both jurisdictions.
