The Tolono-based Unit 7 schools have seen an increase in student enrollment during the last five years. Kate Nelson's sixth-graders study science in the Unity Middle School, where a new wing was added to accommodate the growth.

St. Joseph School Superintendent Todd Pence frequently holds the door to greet students arriving for class.

St. Joseph is one of several area school districts that have grown since 2003.
