URBANA – A man who admitted he repeatedly entered the U.S. illegally in an effort to be with and support his family will be deported after serving time in a federal prison.

U.S. Central District of Illinois Chief Judge Michael McCuskey on Friday sentenced Fernando Delgado-Cruz, also known as Fernando Lopez, to 21 months in prison for illegally re-entering the U.S. without consent. The judge also sentenced Delgado-Cruz to three years of supervised release, formerly known as parole, if he is not quickly deported, as expected.
