Local crews patrolling for potholes

Anita Sims, left, of Urbana and Michael Dennis of Champaign, both workers with Urbana Public Works, fill potholes along Race Street near the corner of Windsor Road in Urbana on Tuesday. The two were among five crews in Urbana to patch up the potholes that morning.

Don't try this at home.

If you froze a can of soda, "something's got to give," said Jim Kelly, operations manager with the City of Urbana.

That's why there are so many potholes around town recently, he explained.
