Blood donors needed to bolster local supplies

David Grimm, lab tech at the Community Blood Services of Illinois, processes the days blood donations on Friday Jan. 2, 2009. The facility says they currently have a 2 day blood supply verses a 3-5 day supply they are used to.

URBANA – Terry Koker was going to give blood, anyway, but a phone call hastened his plans.

Koker, a chemistry teacher from Gibson City, has type O-negative blood, which makes him a universal donor.
