Helia Healthcare of Urbana will close today

Steve Miller, a Helia Healthcare spokesman, said the Urbana site has never been financially successful. The facility, licensed for 99 beds, had 55 to 60 occupants before transfers began.

URBANA – An Urbana nursing home is closing today, and its patients have been moved to other facilities.

Helia Healthcare of Urbana, 907 N. Lincoln Ave., is "unable to correct deficiencies" and lost its Medicare/Medicaid funding status, according to Melanie Arnold, spokeswoman for the Illinois Public Health Department.

Information given to public health officials was that the nursing home would be closed by today, she said.
