Members of the 1959 Unity High 50th class reunion organizing committee, from left: Jani Melton, Donna Carter Cremeens, Dorothy Brinkmeyer, Jan Sappenfield Fisher, Jeannette Williams and Shirley Jenkins. The class was the first at Unity High School, and they filled the 1957 cornerstone in the wall behind them. Fisher and Jenkins are holding a yearbook open to a picture of the school from the year they graduated. Committee members Lin Warfel and Janet Paine are not pictured.

Alaska and Hawaii became states, television viewers were tuning in to "Gunsmoke" and "Father Knows Best" and kids were dancing to the music of Elvis Presley and Bobby Darin.

The year was 1959, and the present Unity High School building was dedicated. The first class to graduate from that school is getting ready to hold its 50-year reunion.
