Urbana plans street work next week

URBANA — The city has contracted with Cross Construction to perform milling and resurfacing work on various streets next week.

Beginning at 7 a.m. Monday, the south leg of Mathews Avenue at the intersection with Springfield Avenue will be closed to through traffic to allow for the patching of the pavement.  

Weather permitting, this road closure is expected to be in effect for five days and Mathews Avenue is expected to be re-opened by 5 p.m. July 1.

Beginning at 7 a.m. Tuesday, the south legs of Central Avenue, Lake Street and Race Street at the intersection with Park Street will be closed to through traffic to allow for the reconstruction of the side street approaches.

Weather permitting, this work is expected to take three weeks, and the streets are expected to be re-opened by July 19.
