Work to begin on pedestrian bridge over I-74 in Danville

DANVILLE — Contractors are expected to begin Thursday refurbishing the pedestrian bridge over Interstate 74 near the Gilbert Street interchange.

The Illinois Department of Transportation project will include the cleaning and painting of the structure. While work is ongoing, IDOT officials encourage drivers on the interstate to observe all traffic control signs, slow down and drive carefully through the work zone. The project is expected to be finished in September, weather permitting. The contractor for the $97,000 project is Eagle Painting and Maintenance Co.
