From the Illinois Department of Transportation, here is an update on the Interstate 57-74 interchange work:

“Things went very well” Thursday on work on the ramp from westbound I-74 to northbound I-57, according to the Illinois Department of Transportation, and the ramp is expected to open around 8 p.m. Then all work will stop until Monday. All ramps will be open from Thursday night until  about 5 a.m. Monday.  Then the cycle will start over, with the contractor shutting down the ramp from northbound I-57 to westbound I-74.

The updated tentative ramp closure schedule is as follows:

July 25 through July 27 – the ramp from northbound I-57 to westbound I-74.

July 27 & July 28 – the ramp from southbound I-57 to eastbound I-74.

8 p.m. July 28 to 7 a.m. July 29 – the ramp from westbound I-74 to southbound I-57. This ramp is being done at night due to the high volume of traffic during daylight hours.  Southbound I-57 will be reduced to one lane of traffic during this time period also.
