Man and woman arrested in connection with shooting in Johnson County

MADISONVILLE, Ky.— A man and woman listed as persons of interest in connection with a shooting in Johnson County have been arrested in Kentucky.

Police said that John L. Cunningham, 41, and his wife, Janet S. Cunningham, 43, were taken into custody without incident by Kentucky State Police and U.S. marshals near Madisonville, Ky., late Wednesday afternoon.

The couple were found sleeping in a stolen pickup truck at a truck stop near Madisonville.

The Cunninghams fled southern Illinois on Monday night after a man was shot in Johnson County. The victim has since been treated and released from the hospital.

The Cunninghams, both convicted felons, are being held on charges of aggravated vehicular hijacking, aggravated battery with a firearm and unlawful possession of weapon by a felon.
