Drought conditions expand in Illinois

Drought conditions are expanding across more parts of Illinois.

State Climatologist Jim Angel said the latest U.S. Drought Monitor shows that conditions are worsening, with a moderate to severe drought in much of Western and Central Illinois.

Angel said there's a chance of rain in some parts of the state over the weeekend as a cold front moves in.  But he said we aren't supposed to get enough rain to make a big dent in the drought conditions.
