Rutherford expects state supreme court to rule against Quinn

Illinois Treasurer Dan Rutherford said he expects the state Supreme Court to rule against the Governor in the lawsuit over lawmakers' pay.

The high court announced on Wednesday that it would hear Governor Pat Quinn's appeal on the matter.  A lower court judge earlier ruled that it was unconstitutional for Quinn to withhold lawmakers' pay over lack of action on pension reform.

Rutherford, who's also running for Governor, said he's not surprised that the state Supreme Court is taking the case.

Rutherford made the comments Thursday on the WDWS Morning Show.

On an unrelated matter, Rutherford said the state's investments in federal assets are secure, despite the recently-ended partial government shutdown.
