Storm debris cleanup to begin at 5 a.m. Saturday in Champaign

CHAMPAIGN — Public works crews on Saturday will be cleaning up brush and fallen limbs on major roads left behind from an Aug. 9 storm.

The department has received a noise ordinance waiver to start extra early, according to a press release. Work will begin at 5 a.m., and the early start will allow crews to work while traffic volumes are low.

Crews will be working on the following street segments:

— Duncan Road, Mattis Avenue, Prospect Avenue and Neil Street from Windsor Road to Springfield Avenue.

— Windsor, Kirby Avenue, John Street and Springfield from Duncan to Neil.

— Green Street from Mattis to Neil.

Saturday's work is expected to end by 3 p.m.
