Tornado warning expires for Champaign, Vermilion counties

A tornado warning for northeastern Champaign County and northern Vermilion County has expired.
At 5:34 p.m. National Weather Service meteorologists detected a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado near Paxton and moving southeast at 30 miles per hour.
Locations impacted included Gifford, Potomac, Rossville, Armstrong, the Middle Fork Wildlife Area, Collison, Henning and Alvin.
A tornado warning for southern Ford County and southwestern Iroquois County has also expired.
At 5:05 p.m. National Weather Service radar indicated a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado. The storm was located near Gibson City and moving east at 25 miles per hour.
