Heat advisory issued for Thursday for East Central Illinois

The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for East Central Illinois from noon to 7 p.m. Thursday. 

Counties affected include Champaign, Vermillion, Douglas, Edgar, DeWitt, Piatt, Macon, Moultrie, Shelby, and Coles.

Temperatures are expected to be in the mid 90s, with high humidity and a heat index of 110.

Make sure to drink plenty of water, stay in an air-conditioned room if possible, and wear light and loose fitting clothing.  Also check on neighbors, especially the elderly, and watch out for signs of heat stroke and exhaustion.
