Freezing rain, sleet may bring slick roads on Friday

The National Weather Service says a mixture of freezing rain, sleet and snow will develop across Central Illinois on Friday afternoon, as a storm system passes south of the region. The precipitation will be light, with minimal snow and ice accumulations expected. The precipitation will taper off and end Friday night.

Motorists are advised to drive carefully, particularly during the Friday afternoon commute, as scattered slick spots will develop on many area roads.
