Tornado watch, other advisories issued

A tornado watch has been issued for East Central Illinois until midnight Wednesday night.

The watch inludes Champaign, Coles, Douglas, DeWitt, Edgar, Ford, Iroquois, Macon, McLean, Moultrie, Piatt, Shelby, and Vermilion Counties.

There are also several weather advisories related to flooding that are either in effect or forecast for East Central Illinois.

There's a flood advisory for the Sugar Creek at Milford in effect until Friday morning.

There's a flood warning for the Sangamon River at Monticello in effect until Saturday night.

There's a flood warning for the Vermilion River at Danville in effect starting late Thursday and going until Sunday night.

East Central Illinois as a whole is under some form of a flood watch, either a flood watch or a flash flood watch, in effect until Thursday night or Friday morning depending on location.

In addition, the National Weather Service is reporting a strong thunderstorm near Villa Grove, moving north at 45 mph.

Penny size hail and winds around 50 mph are expected with this storm.

A weather advisory has been issued for eastern Champaign County, northern Douglas County and northwest Vermilion County until 7:15 p.m.

Areas affected include Villa Grove, Camargo, Philo, Sidney, St. Joseph, Ogden, Gifford and Rankin.

The National Weather Service has issued a flood advisory for eastern Champaign County until 10 p.m.

Several county roads are reported to be covered with water between Philo and Sidney.

The weather service says a strong storm will drop more heavy rain in eastern Champaign County, with the storm moving north at 40 mph.
