Russell Romine

Russell Glen Romine, 50, of Loves Park, cherished son, father, brother, uncle, family member and friend, passed away peacefully with his family beside him on Jan. 13, 2008, at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago.

Russ received a liver transplant 11 years ago. Beloved son was born in Tuscola, on Sept. 13, 1957, to Myron and Joanne (Thompson) Romine.

Russ, an avid Chicago fan, was devoted to sports; you'd never see him without the sports section sticking out of his back pocket. Russ was a strong supporter of products made in America. Russ played baseball all his life. He played on several local teams with his much loved brother-in-law, Mike, and his nephew, Ryan, along with extended family members. His son, Russ II, hanging on the fence, watching his father, along with his daughters and nieces. Russ was coached by his father, and he went on to coach his son's baseball, basketball and football teams.

A loving brother to his big sis, Valorie and Vicki, and baby sis, Vanessa, he enjoyed many happy times with them and their families. Russ enjoyed visiting family in Tuscola and Arkansas fishing with his grandpa Pete. He greeted people and animals with a smile that lit up the world.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Rush University staff and their chaplain for all their kindness.

Russ is survived by his children, Russell Glenn II, Carrie (Andrew) and Renee; mother, Joanne; sisters, Valorie (Mike Hunter), Vicki and Vanessa; nieces, Megan, Michelle, Michaela; nephews, Ryan, Chadd and Ricky; several aunts, uncles and cousins; special friend, Shelia and family; his special dog, Cocoa; extended family, Deborah and her family mothers, sisters and brother.
