William Enyart

William Lee "Bill" Enyart, 80, of Tuscola passed away at 12:35 p.m. Sunday (July 26, 2009).

Funeral services celebrating Bill’s life will be held at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, July 30, at Maus Family Funeral Home, 400 S. Main St., Tuscola. Illinois National Guard Command Staff Chaplain Dan Krumrei will officiate.

A graveside service with full military rites will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 30, at Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 29, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Enyart was born Aug. 1, 1928, a son of Harry Michael and Thelma Alice (Bensken) Enyart. He married Alta Dallas on July 16, 1948, in Garrett. She preceded him in death.

Survivors include two sons, William L. Enyart Jr. and wife Annette Eckert of Belleville and David R. Enyart and wife Susan of Murdock; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild: Dr. James “Jay” Enyart and wife Tanya and their son Gavin of Belleville, James W. Enyart of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Alex E. Enyart of Belleville; a brother, Dean “Tiny” Enyart and wife Joyce of Bourbon; and numerous nieces and nephews.

His parents, his former wife, Alta, and his brother, Robert Enyart, preceded in death.

Mr. Enyart was the oldest of three brothers. He was a decorated member of the U.S. Navy, having served as a firefighter from 1946-1950, and was a member of the Tuscola American Legion Post 27.

He was a good left-handed pitcher and played football in high school. He was known as a great guy whom everyone liked. Mr. Enyart was a very honest and generous man. He worked for Caterpillar and also as a truck driver. He enjoyed gardening but his two true loves were carpentry and baking. He will be dearly missed.
