RANTOUL – Donald Taylor Jr., 77, of Rantoul, a former Paxton resident, died at 2:45 a.m. Sunday (Sept. 26, 2010) at Amber Glen Care Center in Urbana.
Private family graveside services will be held at Maplewood Cemetery, Rantoul, with Rev. John Davenport officiating. Baier Family Funeral Services, Paxton, is handling arrangements.
Mr. Taylor was born on Aug. 12, 1933, in Morganfield, Ky., the son of Donald and Vera Heffington Taylor. He married Flora Genevieve Hale on May 18, 1952, in Corinth, Miss. She preceded him in death on May 26, 2001.
Don is survived by two sons, Jerry (Wanda) Taylor of Rankin and Jimmy (Carey) Taylor of Rantoul; eight grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Michael Taylor; and six brothers and sisters.
Don grew up in Paducah, Ky. He moved to Paxton in 1964 and moved to Rantoul in 2002. He retired from Kraft Foods after 20 years and has been part owner of T+T Tavern in Rantoul with his son and daughter-in-law, Jimmy and Carey Taylor, for the past 14 years. He enjoyed fishing and was an avid Chicago Bears and Cubs fan.
Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
