Jesse Masengale

URBANA – Jesse R. Masengale, 24, of Urbana died on Tuesday morning (May 24, 2011).

He was born on March 29, 1987, in Urbana, a son of Carmen (Masengale) and John McCabe.

He is survived by a son, Jude Gabriel of Urbana; two brothers, Jonathon Parrish of Gilbert, Ariz., and Dalton McCabe of Champaign; a sister, Trinity Masengale of Inverness, Fla.; maternal grandparents, Roger G. and Ellie Masengale of Rantoul, Joe and Juanita Head of Rantoul; and a great-grandmother, Mary Arce of Rantoul.

Jesse was a 2005 graduate of PBL High School in Paxton. He worked as a carpenter with his grandfather. He was an advocate for the homeless for Safe Haven and the Catholic Worker House. Jesse preferred the company of those who didn't have, more than those who did. He was a friend to society's forgotten. He was a sincere friend, compassionate and energetic; although he wasn't here long, he left a mark on this world that will not be forgotten.

Funeral services will be at noon Saturday at the First Baptist Church, Rantoul. Rev. Ken Crawford will officiate. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at the church.

Lux Memorial Chapel, Rantoul, is handling the arrangements.

Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church.
