ARCOLA – Robert L. "Bob" Reese, 75, of Arcola passed away at 11:20 a.m. Saturday (Sept. 17, 2011) at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana.
A funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 1, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Arcola. Father Barry Harmon will officiate. Burial with military rites will be in the Calvary Cemetery in Pana at a later date. Visitation will be held two hours before the funeral Mass at the church on Oct. 1.

Bob was born on June 5, 1936, in Pana. He was a son of Roy Monroe and Agnes Elizabeth (Tokoly) Reese. He married Mary Emily Smith on March 25, 1961, in England.
He is survived by his wife Mary of Arcola; one son, Robert Reese and his wife Pam of Tuscola; two daughters, Madeline Reese of Urbana and Vanessa Reese of Chicago; four grandchildren, Rachel Kerr and her husband Dallas of Coffeeville, Miss., Matthew, Michelle and Michael, all of Tuscola; one great-granddaughter, Alexandra, of Coffeeville, Miss.; one brother, James Reese and his wife Lavena of Nokomis; and one sister, Rosemarie Boulier and her husband Bo of Macon.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Barbara Havrilka.
Bob was a retired U.S. Air Force veteran, having served for 20 years.
After the military, he began a new career as an automotive mechanic. He had worked at Kmart Automotive in Mattoon and then at Tuscola True Value until he retired.
He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Arcola.
He had been a weather observer for the National Weather Service for many years and also had a passion for airplanes. He volunteered at the Animal Health Care Center in Arcola. Bob enjoyed meeting people and was devoted to his children and their families.
