SAVOY – Harold Lee Dorsett passed away at 3:15 a.m. Wednesday morning at the Country Health Rehabilitation Nursing Home in Gifford.
Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. today (Friday, Dec. 23) at Morgan Memorial Home at 1304 Regency Drive in Savoy, followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m. The Rev. Rick Snyder will officiate. Burial will be in Grandview Memorial Gardens, Champaign.
Harold was born in Belle Fourche, S.D., on July 11, 1912. He received his Bachelor's, Master's and Doctorate at Law at George Washington University.
Harold belonged to Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity, the Masons, Rotary Club of Champaign and First Presbyterian Church of Champaign.
Survivors include his wife, Delsie of Savoy; one son, Dave (Judy) Dorsett of Pensecola, Fla.; one daughter, Diane Boyer of Homer; three grandchildren, Rob and Todd Boyer and David Dorsett IV; and six great-grandchildren. He is also survived by one sister, Jane (Allan) Edwards of Chandler, Ariz.
Harold retired from the U.S. Army as a Full Colonel in 1967. He was the Professor of Military Science at the University of Illinois.
He was a combat veteran of World War II and Korea and Vietnam.
He started teaching Accounting, Criminal Law and Business Law at Parkland Community College in the same year.
Harold finished his working career at the age of 76 as the President of Sangamon Valley Water District.
