TOLONO – Helen Virginia Hendricks, 92, of Tolono, formerly of Muncie, passed away at 1:30 a.m. Tuesday (Feb. 7, 2011) at Heartland Health Care Center in Champaign.
She was born Dec. 26, 1919, in Perrysville, Ind., to Arthur George and Clarabell Fultz Watson. She married Clyde Louis Hendricks on April 20, 1941, in Fairmount. He preceded her in death on May 10, 1999.
Surviving are three daughters, Deanna Kay (John) Jones of Tolono, Sandra Lee (Gary) Trimmell of Tarpon Springs, Fla., and Mary Jo Hendricks of Champaign; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and a sister.
Helen was a graduate of Danville High School. Along with her husband, she owned and operated the Hendrick's Superway grocery store in Muncie for 30 years. She loved reading and cooking and served in several positions at Muncie Baptist Church.
A service to celebrate the life of Helen Hendricks will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 11, at Muncie Baptist Church. Pastor Dave Garver will officiate. Burial will follow in Stearns Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from noon to 2 p.m. prior to the service on Saturday, also at Muncie Baptist Church. Memorials may be made to Muncie Baptist Church.
