Sally Wahls

PIPER CITY – Sally J. Wahls, 77, of Piper City died at 1:16 p.m. Tuesday (Feb. 7, 2012) at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center, Bloomington.

Her funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 13, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Chatsworth, with Pastor Jerry Gentes officiating. Burial will be in Chatsworth Cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 12, at Calvert and Martin Funeral Home, Chatsworth, and for one hour prior to services Monday at the church.

Memorials in Sally's name may be made to St. Paul's Lutheran Church or OSF St. Joseph Medical Center, Bloomington.

Sally was born Nov. 19, 1934, in Winchester, a daughter of Sam and Frieda (Klotz) Danenberger. She married Floyd L. Wahls on Feb. 19, 1955, in Bloomington. He survives in Piper City.

Also surviving are three sons, Steve (Rhonda) Wahls of Loomis, Neb., Greg (Cathy) Wahls of Piper City and Glenn Wahls of Gibson City; two daughters, Nancy (Charles) Hay of Gibson City and Victoria (Jay) Beck of Melvin; 15 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers, Sam "Bo" Danenberger of Danvers and John "Butch" Danenberger of Normal; and one sister, Sue Swartz of Huntsville, Ala. Sally was preceded in death by one granddaughter.

Sally was educated at University High School in Normal. She was a kitchen supervisor at Greenbriar Nursing Home in Piper City and was a school bus driver for Piper City schools.

She enjoyed sewing, bird watching, gardening, camping and loved spending time with her grandchildren. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Chatsworth.
