THE VILLAGES, Fla. – Curtis "Curt" R. Rau, 72, of The Villages, Fla., formerly of Mahomet and Farmer City, passed away at Leesburg Regional Hospital on March 8, 2012.
He was a retired farmer and real estate broker specializing in farmland. Curt was a member of Village of Faith Baptist Church, Wildwood, Fla., and past member of Grace Baptist Church in Mahomet. He was a strong Christian father and was very proud of his four daughters and their families.
Mr. Rau was well-respected in the Midwest farming and real estate industry. Curt enjoyed family gatherings, NASCAR, traveling and church activities.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Anne Frederickson Rau of The Villages, Fla.; four daughters, Rae Ann (Jay) Houston of Versailles, Ky., Amy Lewis of Eaton, Ohio, Lea (Jeff) Green of Belleville and Meg (Bob) Watson of Charlotte, N.C.; brother, Jerry Rau of Farmer City; nine grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and eight nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Rex and Zella Rau, and his brother, Everett Rau.
Visitation will be at 1 p.m. Sunday, March 18, at Grace Church, Mahomet, with a Celebration of Life to follow at 3 p.m.
Mr. Rau elected to donate his body to the Mayo Clinic for medical research. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, memorial contributions may be to Mayo Clinic Department of Development, Musculoskeletal Research, In Memory of Curtis Rau, 200 First St. SW, Rochester, MN 55905; or the American Cancer Society.
