BEMENT – Larry K. Rogers, 75, of Bement passed away at 6:40 p.m. Friday (June 22, 2012) at Imboden Creek Living Center, Decatur.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 27, at Holy Family Catholic Church, 2400 S. Franklin St. Road, Decatur, with a prayer service conducted by the Rev. Father Joe Molloy at 4:30 p.m.
Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 28, also at Holy Family Catholic Church, Decatur. The Rev. Father Joe Molloy will officiate. Burial will be in the Bement Township Cemetery, Bement.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Bement High School Boys' Basketball Program.
Larry was born Dec. 21, 1936, in Monticello, a son of Archie and Eleanor Harvey Rogers. He married Eileen Foran on April 29, 1934, in Bement, and she passed away on May 10, 1999.
Surviving children include a daughter, Kimberley Ann (Dr. Robert) Dodenhoff of Scottsdale, Ariz.; three sons, Kurtis Rogers of Decatur, Kyle (Kelly) Rogers of Bement and Kraig (Marisa) Rogers of Decatur; as well as six grandchildren, Katelyn and Kiersten Rogers of Bement, and Hayley, Luke, Zachary and Erin Eileen Rogers of Decatur. He is also survived by a sister, Dorothy Kingsbury.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, a brother, Loren Rogers, and a sister, Bernie Smith.
Larry was a member of the Bement Lions Club, Bement Ballpark Association, and past president and member of the Bement school board.
He loved golf, NASCAR and was an avid New York Yankees and Chicago Bulls fan. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and loved watching all of their activities.
Larry was active in the Decatur Junior Golf Program and loved spending time at Lake Mattoon.
He retired from General Cable in Monticello after 46 years of service.
Larry was so proud of all of his children's accomplishments and made every effort to be at as many of his children's and grandchildren's activities as he possibly could.
