BRADENTON, Fla. – Dorothy "Kay" Pusheck, 69, of Bradenton, Fla., died Sunday morning (June 24, 2012) at home following a prolonged illness.
A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at noon Friday, July 20, at Tara Golf and Country Club, Bradenton, followed by a luncheon reception at the same location. A private interment will precede her celebration service.
Kay was born Nov. 24, 1942, at Mercy Hospital in Urbana, the second child of Alice E. (Fletcher) Maier and Henry Joseph Maier. Her brother, Charles, and sister, Ann Funkhouser, preceded her in death.
Kay is survived by her loving family, husband, Ralph W. Pusheck; daughter, Catherine A. Lindman and her husband, Brian; grandson, Gregory S., and granddaughter, Allison P. Lindman, all of Bradenton, Fla.; and son, Robert G. Pusheck, and grandsons, Matthew E., Pierce J. and Logan M. Pusheck of Howard County, Md.
Kay grew up in Champaign County, Ill., where she was active in 4-H, served as secretary of the Junior American Legion Post and was a 1960 graduate of Champaign High School.
She resided with her family in Annapolis, Md., with a career in the recreational sailing industry.
Following retirement, she and husband Ralph relocated to Bradenton in 2001 where she served as president of the Tara Women's Golf Association and participated as a volunteer on community committees.
Kay enjoyed travel with friends and family, golf, mahjong, family holidays and especially birthdays, family history research and attendance at children's and grandchildren's school and sporting activities. She will be fondly remembered for her gentle spirit.
