CISSNA PARK – Irene June Vogel, 86, of Cissna Park died on Monday (Oct. 8, 2012) in her home, surrounded by family who loved her. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today (Wednesday) at the Knapp Funeral Home in Cissna Park and from 9:30 a.m. until the 10:30 a.m. funeral service on Thursday, Oct. 11, at the Cissna Park United Methodist Church. Rev. Janet Longtin will officiate. Burial will be in the Cissna Park Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Iroquois Memorial Hospice or the Cissna Park United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Vogel was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was born June 1, 1926, in Cissna Park, the daughter of Ben and Margaret Hauer Zbinden. She married Bernard P. Vogel on Jan. 14, 1946, in Lebanon, Mo.
Bernard and Irene enjoyed winters in Florida fishing and hosting fish frys. She enjoyed being a farmer's wife and being surrounded by her family.
Surviving are one son, Jim "Bingo" Vogel of Cissna Park; three daughters and sons-in-law, Marilyn and Roger Huffman of Cissna Park, Barbara and Keith Allen of East Lynn, and Nita and Loren Sinn of Cissna Park; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Wilma Wyss and Beulah Reed of Cissna Park; and two brothers, Ray Zbinden of Aroma Park and Danny Zbinden of Cissna Park.
She was preceded in death by her parents; the love of her life, Bernard Vogel, on Nov. 19, 2007; one brother; and three sisters.
