URBANA – A celebration of life for Jimmy Heath will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 8, 2012, at Owens Funeral Home, 101 N. Elm St., Champaign. Following the service, the family would like you to join them at the American Legion Post 71, 107 N. Broadway Ave., Urbana, to share stories and celebrate his life.
Jimmy passed away at 11:02 a.m. Sunday (Nov. 4, 2012).
He was born Feb. 18, 1949, in Urbana, son of Milferd and Mary (Oliger) Heath. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister.
He married Kimberly Shields on May 5, 1981, in Rantoul. She survives.
Also surviving are his children and grandchildren: daughter, Gena Atteberry, with her daughters, Rayne and Kiley; daughter, Kara, her husband, Brian McQueen, with their children, Chanc, Zayah, Savannah and Zaryanna; and son, Travis, his wife, Amanda, and their son, Brooker James. Two brothers, a sister and several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
Jimmy retired in 2008 from International Union of Operating Engineers Local 841 after 40 years of service working at Champaign Asphalt.
In his years of retirement, he enjoyed his grandchildren and his second home in Cape Coral, Fla., with Kim and friends doing happy hour and beaches. He also enjoyed tinkering with his 1940 Chevrolet pickup.
Jimmy loved all and was loved by all and was a wonderful, WONDERFUL man.
