Peter Donhowe

PHOENIX – Peter Arthur Donhowe was born in Columbus, Neb., on Feb. 5, 1938, and made his transition in Phoenix, Ariz., on Oct. 19, 2012.

He graduated from Story City, Iowa, High School in 1957, served in the U.S. Navy for two years and graduated from the University of Iowa, where he studied history, American studies and political science.

Peter was a journalist and editorial writer for the St. Louis Post Dispatch from 1965-1985. In 1985, he accepted a position at the News Bureau of the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign. After having a disabling stroke in 1990, he continued to produce a newsletter, TV and Politics Watch, for another 10 years from 1992-2002.

Peter is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Mark and Vickie Donhowe of Decorah, Iowa; son, Joseph Donhowe of Champaign; and daughter, Helen Donhowe, son-in-law, Jonah Busick, and grandchildren, Owen and Nada Busick, all of Phoenix, Ariz.
