NEOGA – Harold Francis "Bud" Schultz, 90, of Neoga, formerly of Urbana, passed away at 8:45 a.m. Friday (Nov. 9, 2012) at his residence in Neoga.
Harold was born Dec. 31, 1921, in Champaign, the son of Harold and Elsie (Francis) Schultz. He married Lois Brown and she passed away in July 2006. He later married Virginia "Ginny" McWethy and she passed away on Feb. 17, 2010.
Harold was an employee of the University of Illinois, and was a life member of the V.F.W. Post of Mattoon, and Urbana, and a life member of the American Legion of Mattoon, Urbana and Neoga.
Harold proudly served his country in the United States Navy aboard a PT boat during World War II. He leaves four daughters, Nancy Detrick of Kingston Spring, Tenn., Sandra "Dixie" Vance and husband William of Las Cruces, N.M., Debbie Steiner and husband Dave of Paxton and Cari DeAtley of Sidney; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and special friends, Stan Richardson and Tim Bryson, both of Neoga.
Mr. Schultz was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Lois Schultz; and his second wife, Virginia "Ginny" Schultz; one brother, Bill Schultz; and one sister, Maxine Thomas. Memorials may be made to the donor's choice.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 13, at the Swengel-O'Dell Funeral Home of Neoga, with the Rev. James Maroon of Neoga officiating. Military services will be held at the funeral home, with V.F.W. Post No. 4325 of Mattoon officiating. Visitation will be held one hour before services at the funeral home. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 13, at Danville National Cemetery. Swengel-O'Dell Funeral Home of Neoga is in charge of arrangements.
