URBANA – Daniel Patrick Settecase, 48, of Urbana passed on Nov. 10, 2012, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital, St. Louis, Mo., after a long illness. Daniel was awaiting a liver transplant.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 16, at Owens Funeral Home, 101 N. Elm St., Champaign.
A memorial Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 17, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 706 W. Main St., Urbana.
Daniel, also known as Diego to friends and acquaintances, was born Jan. 30, 1964, in Chicago. He was the son of Salvatore and Dorothy Settecase. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Terrence; and a sister, Donna.
Daniel married Barbara Ann Matthews on Nov. 25, 1987, in Urbana. She survives.
He is also survived by six brothers and two sisters, Michael, Steven, James, Eric, Robert and Frank Settecase and Gail Rice and Marian Santana, along with their spouses and children. His memory is cherished by his nieces, Tina Cook and Lisa Johannsen, and his loss is especially felt by his in-laws, many of whom were with him when God took him home.
Daniel loved the outdoors and his preferred occupation was landscaping. He enjoyed gardening, sitting in his backyard, bicycling, walking and camping out in the woods and communing with nature. He was an avid reader from National Geographic to Rolling Stone, from Elmore Leonard to the Bible, which he knew well.
He was a good friend and a good neighbor.
In Daniel's memory, his family would like everyone to become an organ donor.
