Luke Schoonover

URBANA – William Luther "Luke" Schoonover, 90, of Urbana passed away at 12:12 a.m. Wednesday (Nov. 14, 2012), at his residence.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 19, at Morgan Memorial Home, 1304 Regency Drive West, Savoy. The Rev. Jim Barden will officiate. Burial will be in Eastlawn Burial Park, Urbana.

Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 18, at the funeral home.

Luke was born Dec. 29, 1921, in Louisville, Ill., a son of Everett Joseph and Alta Napier Schoonover. He married Florence "Sis" Tatman on Sept. 20, 1950, in Champaign. She passed away July 20, 2004.

Surviving are four sons, Kenneth (Barb) Logue of Mahomet and George (Dixie) Schoonover, both of Mahomet, Joe (Linda) Schoonover of Bondville and Robert (Vicki) Schoonover of Champaign; one daughter, Ella (Kenny) Simmons of Champaign; 12 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; one brother, Everett (Zella) Schoonover of Mattoon; and two sisters, Lois (Gene) Ard and Joyce Scott, both of Champaign.

He was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.

Luke was a truck driver out of Teamsters Local 26 in Champaign for more than 50 years.

He was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Urbana. He enjoyed mowing lawns for others and had quite a collection of lawn mowers.
