MONTICELLO – Marie M. Gilbreath, 96, of Monticello passed away at 7:09 p.m. Nov. 12, 2012, at the Piatt County Nursing Home, Monticello.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m.. Saturday, Nov. 17, at Trigg & Calvert Funeral Home, DeLand, with Steve Ingram officiating. Burial will follow in DeLand Cemetery, DeLand. Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Piatt County Nursing Home, Monticello.
Marie was born Oct. 4, 1916, in DeLand, the daughter of Jurgen and Wendline (Lubber) Weets. She married Ralph Gilbreath on July 16, 1937, in Newport, Ind. He passed away Nov. 15, 1992.
Survivors include three sons, Walter Duane (Kay) Gilbreath of Monticello, Terry Dean (Jane) Gilbreath of Tempe, Ariz., and Stephen Lynn (Luan Huu Nguyen) Gilbreath of Sacramento, Calif.; and three grandchildren, Wendy Sue (Derek) Gilbreath Trimble of Goosecreek, S.C., Aimee Elizabeth (Jonathon) Gilbreath Daves of Venice, Calif., and Matthew Corey (Allison) Gilbreath of Scottsdale, Ariz.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Albert and Fred Weets; and one sister, Frances Knisely.
Marie was a member of the First Christian Church, Monticello, the Jolly Club and the Piatt County Historical and Genealogical Society. She had worked in the meat department at the Farmer City IGA and the deli department at the Monticello IGA. Also she was an avid quilter, loved working word searches, loved living on the farm and was everyone's favorite aunt.
