MONTICELLO – William A. "Bill" Drennan, 90, of Monticello, formerly of Neoga, passed away at 1:19 p.m. Thursday (Nov. 15, 2012) in the Kirby Medical Center of Monticello.
He was born Feb. 9, 1922, in Neoga, the son of Elda A. and A. Leona (Lockhart) Drennan. He was a World War II veteran, serving in the U.S. Army in Europe for three years. Bill married Rowena Elson on Nov. 14, 1948, in Neoga.
He was a deacon and elder of the First Presbyterian Church, past member and president of Lions Club 1973, both of Monticello. He was a member of the Alumni Association of Millikin University and Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity, both of Decatur. Bill was employed by the General Telephone Co. for 17 years, and he was an insurance agent for the New York Life Insurance Co., retiring after 17 years of service.
Mr. Drennan leaves his wife, Rowena Drennan of Monticello; two daughters, Marsha Hinthorn and husband Robert of Normal, and Erin Cody and husband Terry of Indianapolis, Ind.; six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Drennan was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Clyde E. Drennan; and two sisters, Doris Jean Cameron and R. Irene Drennan.

As per Mr. Drennan's wishes, he will be cremated and a memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 24, 2012, at the First Presbyterian Church, 214 S. Charter St., Monticello.
