HOOPESTON – Maynard Marie Byers, 91, of Hoopeston died at 1:50 a.m. Wednesday (Nov. 21, 2012) at Heritage Health Care in Hoopeston.
Born March 19, 1921, at Glasgow, Ky., she was the daughter of Buford H. and Jewel (Wells) Page.
She married Charles C. Byers on April 9, 1955, at Hoopeston. He preceded her in death on Jan. 2, 1991. She is survived by one son, Don (Laura) Crews of Sheldon; one daughter, Betty Wilson of Alice, Texas; two grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; two brothers, Bill (Roxie) Page and Max (Ester) Page, both of Hoopeston; and one sister, Mildred Owen of Hoopeston. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and two sisters.
Maynard had worked at TRW in Hoopeston and Watseka for many years and also worked at CBS in Hoopeston, retiring on March 19, 1984.
She enjoyed sewing and watching NASCAR racing. She also had a great affection for cats.
Funeral services for Mrs. Byers will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 27, at Brown-Alkire Funeral Home, 309 E. Washington St. in Hoopeston. Steve Unger will officiate. Burial will be in the Floral Hill Cemetery at Hoopeston. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
