CHAMPAIGN – Marilyn Kay McCormick, 74, passed away at 10:15 p.m. Saturday (Nov. 24, 2012) at Heartland Healthcare in Champaign.
She was born on Aug. 30, 1938, to Ethel (Ipox) and Lloyd Brown. She attended Champaign High School, graduating in 1956. She married Lowell M. McCormick on Sept. 1, 1957. He preceded her in death on July 28, 2009.
She was also preceded in death by her father, Lloyd Brown, and stepfather, Thomas "Tommy" Burnett.
She was the loving mother of three sons, who all live in the Champaign County area. They are: Flynn McCormick of Mahomet, Randy McCormick of Dewey and Blake McCormick of Rantoul.
Her five grandchildren include Andrew McCormick of Urbana, Jessica McCormick and Joshua McCormick of Rantoul, Cole McCormick and Cale McCormick of Mahomet; and one great-granddaughter, London Marie McCormick.
She passionately supported the McCormick family business in many roles and was a giving volunteer for Meals on Wheels and was a member of the Women's Altrusa organization and women's tennis. She was also an avid fan and supporter of the University of Illinois sports programs.
A celebration of Marilyn's life will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 29, at Owens Funeral Home, 101 N. Elm St., Champaign. There will also be a visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 28, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Grandview Memorial Gardens in Champaign.
She will be deeply missed, as she touched many lives in a positive, loving way.
