VILLA GROVE – Michael Louis Bretz died in his sleep Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2012, at his home in Renton, Wash.
Mike was born Sept. 18, 1965, in Urbana, to Charles and Nancy (Jorgensen) Bretz of Villa Grove.
He is survived by his parents; two brothers and their wives, David and Christy Bretz of Virginia Beach, Va., and Matthew and Carrie Bretz of Champaign; and two nieces and six nephews.
A 1982 Villa Grove High School graduate, Mike also took various classes and certification courses at Parkland College, Eastern Idaho Technical College, Walla Walla Community College and South Seattle Community College.
Mike loved farming and enjoyed operating heavy machinery. He was employed at FS and DeKalb in Tuscola, as a power operator at Hanford Nuclear Facility in Washington and various other farm work, truck driving, fork lift operator and forest fire support jobs across the Western and Plains states.
We have fond memories of his years in 4-H showing calves and swine. His recent hobbies included photography, walking, hiking, and calling his dad several times a day.
Friends and family are invited to visit with his parents and brothers at a memorial open house at his parents' home (at 2120 E. County Road 1350 N, Newman, IL 61942) on Dec. 15, 2012, starting at 2 p.m. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, gifts may be given to Murdock Methodist Church or a charity of your choice.
A family private graveside interment of cremains will be held on another date.
