RANTOUL – Robert "Bob" H. Lawler, 79, of Rantoul went to be with the Lord on the afternoon of Monday, Dec. 3, 2012, at his home, surrounded by family.
He was born Dec. 5, 1932, in Lincoln, Ill., a son of Harry and Clara (Sahs) Lawler. He married Betty Lixie on Oct. 20, 1956, in Alpena, Mich. She survives.
Also surviving are a son, Kenneth Lawler of Rantoul; three daughters, Kim (Robert) Stanley of Thomasboro, Karen (Greg) Hollern of Rantoul and Karla Lawler of Rantoul; a brother, Thomas (Susie) Lawler of Lincoln; a sister, Dorothy (Harold) Sanders of Lincoln; 11 grandchildren, Joshua, Jaime (Chris), Justin, Kyle (Jestine), Kirkwood, Kerbie, Kenner, Koree (Luke), Ashlee (Caleb), Jordan, Dayton; and nine great-grandchildren, Makayla, Payton, Clayton, Leilana, Jerzey, Colton, Benton, Pyper and Paycee.
He was preceded in death by three sisters and a grandson, Broc.
Bob served in the U.S. Air Force for over 20 years. He retired from Civil Service at Chanute Air Force Base. He was a member of the American Lutheran Church, Rantoul, an associate member of the Knights of Columbus and a member of the American Legion.
He enjoyed woodworking, mushroom hunting, bowling, hunting and spending time with his grandchildren and family.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at the American Lutheran Church. The Rev. Jeffray Greene will officiate.
There will be a time for greeting friends and family for one hour prior to the service at the church. Lux Memorial Chapel is handling the arrangements.
Memorials may be made to the American Lutheran Church, St. Malachy Development Fund or Provena Hospice.
