SEYMOUR – Deborah (Cooley) Watterson, 58, of Seymour died at approximately 9:35 p.m. Dec. 4, 2012, at Carle Foundation Hospital. She was surrounded by her loving family.
She was born June 27, 1954, in Champaign to David "Ben" and Maxine Cooley. Her mother preceded her in death.
She married Randel Watterson on August 31, 1975. They have two children who adore her, Kristen (Watterson) Rowland and Katelyn Watterson. She also has one stepgrandson, one granddaughter, one step-granddaughter, and one grandson, who were her world. She is survived by her siblings, David "Mike" Cooley (Dee), Sheryl Cooley, Karen Cooley McPeek (Jake), Kathy (Cooley) Mizell (Terry) and Mark Cooley (Karen Lou). She also has five nieces and two nephews as well as five great-nieces and one great-nephew.
In 1972, she graduated from Mahomet Seymour High School. From 1972 to 1976 she had a band called Deb Cooley and the Countryside. She also sang and played in various other bands after that.
She worked at the University of Illinois in the Engineering department from 1978 to 1985 and Carle Printing Services from 2001 to 2010. At the time of her death she was a student at Parkland Community College working on her Office Professional degree.
Owens Funeral Home will conduct a graveside service at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 8, at Grandview Memorial Gardens.
