DANVILLE – Emmett Eugene Henderson, 65, of Clermont, Ind., died at 9:30 p.m. on Dec. 4, 2012, at the Veterans Affairs Illiana Health Care System in Danville.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today (Thursday, Dec. 6) at Owens Funeral Home, 101 N. Elm St., Champaign. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 7, at the funeral home. Burial will be at the Blue Ridge Township Cemetery in Mansfield.

Emmett was born Jan. 24, 1947, in Urbana, a son of Charles and Mary (Havice) Henderson.

Survivors include one daughter, Tonya (Steve) Turpin of Sadorus; two grandchildren, Levi Sample and Hunter Turpin of Sadorus; three brothers, Moe and Bill Henderson of Indianapolis and Bob Henderson of Mansfield; two sisters, Annie Boley of Urbana and Linda (Don) Henderson-Dittmer of Mahomet; and one step-sister, Sandra (William) Raney of Mansfield.

Emmett was a proud veteran and spent three years serving his country in the Army. He spent two years in Vietnam, where he earned a Combat Infantryman's Badge and a Bronze Star.
